I originally established Clifton Seafood as a wholesale business in 2016 and jumped at the chance to open a retail fishmonger when the Cargo 2 unit became available in Wapping Wharf in 2018. It seemed like the perfect spot and full of independents!

Like my Cargo 2 neighbours at The Meat Box and The Bristol Cheesemonger, we all champion local suppliers with whom we have established a strong and trusted relationship.

Fresh is everything

Many of the fish counters in our supermarkets have now gone and there are only a handful of fishmongers left in Bristol. So I pride myself on only serving the best fish you can find. Any fish I haven’t sold on Saturday (from Friday's delivery), I take to paloma Fish House and Bar on Gloucester Road. They have a wonderful 'fish trolley' where you can pick your favourite fish and have it cooked the way you would like it.

I know that many people are squeamish about handling fish or are reticent to cook it, but hopefully my recipe section will give you some inspiration to get cooking seafood like you have on holiday in the Med.
